Review: Jane Iredale Smell the Roses Hydration Spray

October 5, 2015

ReJane Iredale Smell the rose hydration spray review

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Jane Iredale introduces this limited edition hydration spray Jane Iredale Smell the Roses Hydration Spray. This spray was developed exclusively for Living Beyond Breast Cancer, which receives 100% of profits from sales. <–Love that!

This facial spray contains organic Rose Damascena Flower Water which is an excellent skin tonic. The spray cleanses the skin without disturbing its natural protective shield. The advertised benefits are:

  • Rose Damascena Flower Oil and Extracts penetrate into deep layers of the skin. They nourish, tighten, cleanse, detoxify, increase blood circulation, calm and support the skin’s functions.
  • Recommended for any skin type, especially dry and sensitive skin. Calms and soothes skin while reducing redness.
  • Rose fragrance is refreshing and uplifting. It de-stresses and provides an overall feeling of well-being.

I received this press sample a few weeks ago and I’ve been using it ever since. The spray has a light, not overpowering rose fragrance. For me the spray is wonderful to use in the morning, it helps to wake me up. It’s so light when applied and it dried without leaving any sticky residue. In general I used it after washing me face without needing any additional moisturizer but if you have dry skin you may want to still use a moisturizer as this is lightly hydrating. I have oily skin so I found this spray quite balancing all by itself. Sometimes I sprayed it on throughout the day as a pick me up because the scent is uplifting, especially when you’re  feeling exhausted. I can see myself traveling with this spray, especially when flying to feel more wake when I’m jetlagged.

I absolutely love that Jane Iredale is cruelty free, it make me feel better that using a product that is not tested on animals. And the fact that this company uses natural and organic ingredients in also a huge plus. Below you can see recognize every ingredient in this spray which makes me feel safer about using it.

4 Simple Ways to Care for Your Skin

4 Simple Ways to Care for Your Skin

Your skin tells your life story. Your skin is able to communicate the state of your health, your style of living, and even your level of happiness. The skin can communicate so much in fact, that people are now trying harder than ever before and resorting to options that include aesthetic lasers to improve the look and feel of theirs. While there are many beauty treatments out there to help rid you of acne, wrinkles and scarring, everybody will agree the best way to ensure you have beautiful-looking skin is to prevent problems occurring.

To do that, or to improve your current skin condition, here are 4 simple ways for you to care for your skin.

1. Live Healthily

Your skin is the outer display of your inner self. Everything that’s happening inside your body and mind will reflect on your skin. Unhealthy habits can’t be hidden, and will eventually have an effect on your appearance. If you smoke, drink too much alcohol, and burn the candle at both ends, you’ll notice your skin start to suffer because of your lifestyle.

2. Avoid the Sun

Having the sun pulsate down upon you may feel pleasant, but it’s not good for your skin. UV rays age the skin, which is why those living in hotter climates tend to age quicker. As it’s impossible to avoid the sun, and not something you’d want to do anyway, just make sure your skin is protected whenever going outside. Apply a daily moisturizer that contains SPF factor 15 or above, and cover the rest of your body in sunscreen. If the sun is really harsh, try to protect yourself from its glare as much as possible. Hats, umbrellas and sunglasses can go some way to keeping your skin protected.

3. Stop Using so Many Skin Products

Many skin products and treatments that include medical laser devices come with such elaborate advertising campaigns these days that you feel your skin is doomed to look ugly unless you invest in the product or laser treatment. Furthermore, whether it’s moisturizers, fake tanners, or make-up, you’ll need to cut down on artificial skin care products if you want it to look healthy. These products clog up your pores and make it impossible for your skin to breathe. Because of this it’ll look dull and lifeless and will be prone to breakouts.

4. Reduce Stress

Stress isn’t good for your skin. It encourages you to scrunch up your face, and makes you spend ages frowning. Stress can negatively affect your skin’s elasticity, and will make you unhealthy in general. The good thing about stress is that it’s possible to lower it. You don’t need to go to any fancy Eastern philosophy class, nor take medication to do so. If you’re looking to banish acne and wrinkles, take some time each day to relax. Write down your worries and talk through them so that they aren’t always on your mind.

If the Above Advice Doesn’t Work, Seek Expert Help

If your skin isn’t helped by the above advice, you may wish to seek expert help. You can talk to a dermatologist about whatever is troubling you, or you could attempt to improve your skin’s texture by using cosmetic procedures such as chemical pills or aesthetic laser equipment used in laser rejuvenation surgery.

Even if you do decide to consult the experts, just remember, once you’ve fixed your problem, beautiful skill will still depend on your ability to live healthily.

Review: Colleen Rothschild Clarifying Mask

Review: Colleen Rothschild Clarifying Mask

Everyone needs a good mask to keep pores clean and to prevent acne. I recently received a sample of Colleen Rothschild Clarifying Mask for review and I could not wait to give it a try!

The Colleen Rothschild Clarifying Mask contains charcoal which acts like a magnet to draw out impurities along with Vitamin C,a potent antioxidant that shields skin from damaging free radicals and Salicylic Acid, a potent anti-inflammatory ingredient.

I was in desperate need of a facial so I tried the mask right away. I simply applied the mask to my cleansed face and left it on for 10 minutes. The first thing that i noticed is that the mask did not get hard and crack like most mud masks. It was very comfortable to have it! I washed off easily but I suggest using a washcloth to remove any traces of the charcoal mask. After the washing the mask off my clean my skin felt smooth and looked quite radiant. The mask definitely made it easier to remove blackheads. I followed up with a bit of jojoba oil to moisturize my skin.

Overall I absolutely loved this product. It feels better than a lot of the charcoal masks and the market and does the job in helping to keep pores clear.

Favorite things: Korres Natural Skincare and Cosmetics

January 12, 2013

Korres has been one of my favorite skincare and cosmetic brands for a few years now, particularity because they are an all natural and herbal brand. The company was founded in Greece around two decades ago, and they remain to be the “fastest-growing natural skincare company.”

The Korres brand makes all of their products without harsh chemicals, uses all natural and herbal ingredients, helps organic farmers, supports local communities and protects natural resources around the world.

The brand is sold in stores worldwide, as well as in both Sephora and Ulta and sells for $35.00. I recently purchased a Moisturizer, which is one of my staple skincare items. Korres Natural Products Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening, Normal to Dry Skin is a 24-hour moisturizer and brightening cream. This moisturizer is made with Wild Rose Oil and all natural Vitamin C, said to reduce the appearance of fine lines and skin discoloration while leaving the skin fresh, hydrated and bright all day long. I use this cream once every morning underneath my make up, and the scent is enough to sell you! With just a dime-sized amount, the cream melts right into your skin and I instantly feel the softness and delicateness on my face.

Korres has made a brightening and moisturizing line of Wild Rose products called the Wild Rose Regimen Kit  it includes a Serum, Cleanser, Eye Cream and a mask. Very luxurious!

No mineral oil, no silicones, no parabens, no propylene glycol, no synthetic dyes, no retinol, and no animal by-products and animal testing!

Review: Earth Science Aloe Vera Toner

January 5, 2013

Earth Science Aloe Vera Toner.

Before I proceed with this review, I feel the need to clarify the purpose of a toner. In order to do that, I am going to distinguish between toners and astringents. Toners tend to consist of ingredients that will clear excess impurities that is left behind by cleansers and as well gently nourishes the skin with a slight moisture. Astringents tend to tighten the skin and pores and to remove oil. Toners are best for those who have normal to dry skin while astringents are best for those who have oily skin. Just make sure you check your ingredients because some toners have alcohol in them.

I must admit, I absolutely love Earth Science Aloe Vera Toner. Despite a floral smell, this alcohol free toner was a great intermission to my moisturizing regime. I felt my skin soaked it up and it managed to revitalized and moisturize my skin, leaving my face smooth and ready for my night cream. The smell a bit too floral for my taste, and it only slightly overwhelmed the smell of my night cream. Otherwise, my face felt amazing after using this product. An added bonus is it’s cheap, vegan and cruelty free!

Ingredients
Aloe Juice, Sea Kelp Extract, Chamomile Extract, Calendula Extract, Panthenol, Licorice Root Extract, Glycerine, Zinc Sulfate, Lactic Acid, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Allantoin, Lavender Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate, Cellulose Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Annatto Extract, Fragrance.

Earth Science Aloe Vera Complexion Toner & Freshener, Dry/Sensitive Skin, 8 fl oz, $5.39
