Sue Devitt Microquatic Marine Crystal Collagen Eye Masque

November 12, 2011

Sue Devitt Microquatic Marine Crystal Collagen Eye Masque

Weekends are a great time to try beauty treatments because when you’re at home there are usually no time constraints and you can try several treatments throughout the day. I know that I love my beauty treatment weekends and I really do look forward to trying out some new products. One type of product that I’m always on the lookout for are products that can can help de-puff my eyes and fade dark under eye circles.

While at Barney’s I received a sample of Sue Devitt’s Microquatic Marine Crystal Collagen Eye Masque which is a part of their Fall 2011 beauty collection. These marine collagen eye swirls were developed to brighten the overall look of your eyes as well as to heal and hydrate. So I decided to give them a try because they contain hyaluronic acid is a great anti-aging skin care ingredient. These mini eye masks not only contain hyaluronic acid but hey are also infused with micronized marine crystal collagen and seaweed extract, all of which help to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines over time.

The mask is applied to the eye area right out of the package and directly under the eye for 10-15 minutes. I usually like to place my eye masks in the refrigerator to make them extra cold but in this case I didn’t. However when I applied the mask to my eye if felt quite chilled right out of the package! These little eye swirls are SUPER flexible and soft so you can easily contour them around your eye. It felt amazing to put my head back and relax for a few moments while my eyes began to de-puff. They are a bit slick and can move around a bit so I had to lay back and not move around! I didn’t notice much fading in my dark circles BUT the puffiness was noticeably better!

These collagen eye masques give deliver serious hydration! Not only did I notice less swelling but my under eye area was well moisturized. These are the perfect item to throw in your bag when you’re on a long flight. Flying tends to try out your skin and this is the perfect post-flight treatment that takes just a few minutes but will leaving you feeling extremely refreshed!

Pretty Things: Sue Devitt Hydrating Marine Minerals Destination Palette

August 9, 2011

Sue Devitt Hydrating Marine Minerals Destination Eye & Cheek Palette - Beausoleil

I may have mentioned a time or two that I have a slight obsession with makeup palettes, evidence can be found here, here and here. I don’t know whether it’s the ability to multi-task my beauty routine or sheer laziness but I just can’t seem to get enough of them.

Usually while browsing at Sephora or a department store a product will just jump out at me. It could be an amazing color, a limited edition item or just something so different that I simply must have it. Well another palette has caught my attention and it’s the Hydrating Marine Minerals Destination Eye and Cheek Palette in Beausoleil by Sue Devitt. This palette contains Hyaluronic Acid, if you’re not familiar with Hyaluronic Acid, it’s an effective moisturizer and may help prevent premature wrinkling and scarring. It’s naturally found throughout the body BUT it decreases with age. Major bummer! So you can see why I sprint towards products that contain this “fountain of youth”.

I’m a big fan of neutral colors and this combination gives me everything that I need; the colors can be blended to create highlights and contours and also be used as a blush. I’ve even read that some ladies have used this product on their lips with a little lip gloss. I can’t say that I have but hey, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! Let’s take a look at each color:

Bronze, Nude, Shell, Sand

As you can see the palette appears matte but after applying the colors you’ll notice that they have a nice sheen to them. The colors also appear sheer but don’t let that fool you, they are buildable so you can custom create your own shade. Sweet. The Hydrating Marine Minerals palette is available in five other beautiful shades in case neutrals aren’t your thing.

Do you indulge in makeup palettes?

Last week makeup artist and Barneys beauty guru Jason Ascher shared some of his favorite Spring beauty products to an audience of eager bloggers. Jason has been the resident Beauty Guru at Barneys since 2000 and before that he was at Trish Mc Evoy.

Here are some of Jason Aschers favorite Spring beauty items:

Tubereuse 40

Cult favorite cleanser by Eve Lom made the cut. This solid oil cleanser simply “melts” on your skin removing makeup, oil and debris with the help of Eve’s famous muslin cloth.

Among some of Jason’s other favorites were:

Koh Gen Do – Gommage Gel – sold exclusively at Barney’s this Japanese brand focuses on treatment and foundation. This product contains crushed pearl and rosemary but does not contain any artificial fragrances, petroleum-based mineral oils or parabens.

Hourglass Mineral Primer – this primer has an SPF 15, hydrates the skin and is oil, fragrance and paraben free.

Sue Devitt Beausoleil Pace Palette – A nutrient rich eye and cheek makeup palette

Beauty is Life Multi-Touch in Baline – This color line from Germany is exclusively sold at Barneys.

Giorgio Armani Beauty, Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara – This mascara features an oversized patented lash brush to provide precision application to coat each lash in fewer strokes. I’m a huge fan of this mascara, as I only need one coat for dramatic lashes!

By Terry, Rose Balm – Rose balm hydrates and nourishes dry lips. This lip blam helps to repair and rejuvenate lips while also preventing the signs of ageing.

Colbert MD, Intensify Facial Disks – This one step at home microdermabrasion disk with the help of enzyme action increases surface cell turnover to reveal glowing skin. This is one of my favorite products out of all of the Spring picks. I’ve used the disks for a week and there was a dramatically noticeable difference in the texture of my skin and my makeup application never looked better.

What are some of your favorite beauty products for Spring?
