KAELEN’s Ready To Wear F/W 2011 Collection

February 14, 2011

Yes, L&L has the inside look of the Fabulous KAELEN Fall 2011 collection which premiered Saturday, February 12 . It was full of knits, pleats, and splashes of color. I loved how the designer, Kaelen Farncombe, add a vintage touch to her collection. The collection seemed to be inspired by the Wild Wild West, 80’s grunge, and the Victorian period. I love the rustic feel to the clothes and how this collection has some classic pieces that can be worn year round. The color scheme are earth tones with touches of  red, yellow, and blue to add excitement and warmth to the collection. Here is the KAELEN RTW 2011 at the DriveIn24 Studios in Manhattan.

One of my favorite look of the collection was this accordion pleated dress. This is one of the items that I can see on anyone throughout the year.

This is a fabulous coat. Great for any size. Love the use of plaid coat. The hint of red added pop to this outerwear. I also notice the hair, 3 cornrows on the left and a loose side braid, very rustic with a high fashion appeal.

Don’t be surprised when you see Dr. Martens make a comeback at the end of the year. I love the finish on these shoes, very shabby chic.

This printed dress and the red blazer are wonderful. I love that the puff shorts were pair with the midcalf boots and grey tights.

Fabulous red carpet dress. The accordion pleated dress is elegant and would look great on so many celebrities.

One of the huge eye catcher of the show was the yellow/green dress.

I love there Victorian inspired boots with a distressed finish. KAELEN also included stained distressed pumps in the collection. Great styling.

This geometric shape patterned dress is simple and stylish.

Great casual dress, the peek a boo cut out on the sides adding a alluring look.

The cable knit dresses in this collection were especially chic. Tons of layering was seen through out the show.

This color block coat is to die for. As a whole the fit of this collection is  great.

Sweater dresses are a fashion staple for every women, in my opinion. I have a feeling that many stores and designers will include cable knit sweater dresses in their collections.

The show was packed with fashion divas, press, and lovers of the KAELEN’s fashion. The space was reminisce of a in vogue barn party. The space was warm and sophisticated .

The designer Kaelen Farncombe presenting her entire collection to the audience at the end of the showcase. The show was a great assortment of the wearable and stylish clothing. I had a wonderful time at the KAELEN collection fashion show.

Farah Angsana

Indonesian designer Farah Angsana did not disappoint with her S/S 2011 Ready-to-wear collection! She was the first show that I attended on Day 1 of Fashion week and I really loved her collection. Farah’s Ready To Wear collection ranged from embellished micro mini dresses to cascading crystal embellished gowns to tribal prints. Farah’s attention to detail stands out and her collection showed her range as a designer. Farah showcased not only simple print dresses but also elegant eye catching red carpet gowns.

Preview: Custo Barcelona Spring-Summer 2011 collection

August 21, 2010

Custo Barcelona

Two brothers from Spain, Custo and David Dalmau created Custo Barcelona in the early 1980s. While traveling around the world and eventually finding their way to California they were inspired by the landscape and with the surf style. The Dalmau brothers were fascinated by the colorful, psychedelic prints and contrasting styles between Northern and Southern California surfers. The trip was the beginning of their fashion journey and they launched the “Custo Line” that was inspired by the California lifestyle. Today Custo still delivers their bold prints, bright colors and silk-screened pieces for women and men. With New York Fashion Week coming up quickly everyone is anxious to see the new collections. Let’s take a sneak peak at the Custo Barcelona sketches from the Spring-Summer 2011 ready-to-wear collection:

CUSTO SUMMER FESTIVAL is the most appropriate name for the new proposals in the spring-summer collection 2011 from Custo. Positive energy, freshness and free-spiritedness pervades both the daywear collection, Custo Everyday, and the eveningwear collection, Custo Let’s Party.

CUSTO EVERYDAY includes comfortable easywear, with lots of personality and colours, to create whole looks loaded with Custo DNA. Denim is the star of this collection, to wear with slouchy, baggy boho silhouettes. Without forgetting the brightest and most typically Custo colours, the palette this season includes pale, dusty and nude shades and military colour ranges, combined with embroidery, appliqué and patchwork. Innovation in the fabric department with linen, jersey for a cool, natural country look: tricot waistcoats, sweaters and scarves with very open weave to look like holes and macro crochet; dresses and loose shirts in guipure and pieces in viscose. The graphics take two forms: arty geometry and colourful, more figurative microprints.

CUSTO LET’S PARTY features sexy looks, shoulder pads, generous necklines, knee-length pieces, and asymmetrical, slightly oversized pieces. Dark colours are the stars of the eveningwear collection, mixed with metallic shades: gold, bronze, copper, mercury and rusts, combined with electric and vibrant tones. The silks are sand washed or overdyed to give a vintage effect, less sophisticated than those in the Lowxury collection. Graphic colourful velour mixed with eco leather or paillettes along with multicoloured digital prints and pixel effects flood the garments in the eveningwear collection.

LOWXURY (LOW + LUXURY) is a collection for evening and special occasions at competitive prices in flattering, sensual shapes that skim over the body. Of particular note are the colourful mini-dresses and the tops with fringes and lots of movement, worn with skirts and shorts. Jackets and waistcoats complete an outfit that’s perfect for every occasion. The brightest colours in the Custo palette are mixed with earth tones, khaki, sand and black and with bright appliqués in passementerie and guipure lace. Fuchsia, jade, aquamarine and mauve sparkles enhance these original creations. And the fabrics? These are fluid chiffons and silk satin with wild, natural-coloured prints. An ode to perforations that allow a glimpse of other prints and materials, even naked skin.

It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of interesting print combinations in this collection. Personally I am a fan of Custo jackets and I think their use of multiple patterns is as beautiful and spirited as pop art. I’m looking forward to seeing what they will show at New York Fashion Week. What are your thoughts on this upcoming collection?
