Preview: Priti NYC Fall 2012 – Yacht Week in Croatia

September 27, 2012

Priti NYC has a new collection for Fall 2012, Yacht Week in Croatia. The collection was inspired by the beautiful Adriatic coast. Think sailing along the Croatian shore in the moonlight, your sundress gently blowing in the wind. So elegant. The new colors are:

  • Irish Molly – an Autumn brown
  • Painter’s Palette – burgundy wine
  • Sea Holly – a deep teal
  • Stonecrop – a bright leafy green

I adore the inspiration for the collection, it’s refreshing to see such lively colors for the fall with a nod to the resort season. My favorite shade is Stonecrop, what’s yours? What do you think of the collection?

Event Recap: Green Your Beauty Routine!

August 19, 2012

How to Green Your beauty Routine
Your hosts, Kimberlee Van Der Wall & Nicole Dantzler

A few months ago I decided that I wanted to have an event where bloggers and editors could gather in a relaxing environment and talk about beauty. I wanted the event to be fun, yet informative so I came up with, Green Your Beauty Routine.

If we’ve ever chatted at great length, you know that I believe that natural is always best in any part of our lives. So I decided to collaborate with my friend, and fashion blogger, Kimberlee Van Der Wall of I HaveADegreeInThis.com. We put our heads together to come up with an event that our fellow bloggers would love.

We invited Leena Sukumar from MySkin.com and Jolene Hart of Beautyiswellness.com to share their knowledge along with some helpful tips about integrating green beauty practices into our daily lives.

Jolene Hart shared lots of helpful green beauty food tips:

  • Sugar causes inflammation in the body and spikes your blood sugar so limit use.
  • Foods with Biotin, like Swiss Chard, are great for your hair.
  • Raw honey is an excellent facial mask, it’s a natural humectant.
  • Do a simple detox daily with a glass of warm (purified) water and a half of a lemon.
  • Look for whole foods that are colorful, they’re beneficial to your skin; brown is bad!

Leena Sukumar shared her insights on how the beauty industry is leaning towards more green initiatives:

  • Companies are investing in corn-based and biodegradable packaging.
  • There is a trend towards using glass packaging to reduce waste.

Everyone is attendance had a great time and we even left our guests with some nice parting gifts:

Priti NYC Soy Polish Remover Wipes

November 18, 2011

Priti NYC Soy nail polish remover

If you love to do your own manicures at home, your least favorite part is probably removing the old chipped nail polish. Personally I cannot stand it when my nail polish begins to chip away; it always looks so messy and it makes me want to hide my hands. So I usually stock my beauty bag with nail polish remover for quick clean-ups between manicures.

As a beauty product in itself, I never really gave too much thought about nail polish remover; I usually just picked up a bottle of whatever was on sale. I really try to take the time to eat the right things, read food labels and take care of myself. So what don’t I read the ingredients on my beauty products? Well recently I’ve started to pay attention to the ingredients inside some of my favorite beauty products and I was not happy. We’re all aware that nail polish remover doesn’t smell o great but were you aware that there are toxic ingredients in some of these products?

There are lots of beauty options so I decided to try Priti NYC Soy Nail Polish Remover. This remover is 100 percent biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-carcinogenic PLUS the soy and corn base is derived from organic farm crops. This remover is always infused with moisturizing coconut oil and essential lemongrass oils, that leave a sweet citrus-y scent behind.

Priti NYC Soy Nail Polish Remover

The most noticeable difference with this soy based remover was that there was no harsh chemical smell, that alone makes it worth while. After using the remover my cuticles were well moisturized, which I attribute to the delicious smelling lemongrass oil. The remover works just as well as regular remover except that it takes a little more time to remove. But since you’re not breathing in any carcinogenics then I’d say that it’s certainly worth a little more elbow grease. The real payoff of course is using a product that not only works wells but is good for you and good for the environment.

The remover can be purchased in individually wrapped packets or a in very cool apothecary style bottle. I like individual wipes because they are great for travel and I somehow always manage to spill my nail polish remover while in transit. The individual cotton pads are fairly thick and hold a good amount of remover, one pad was enough to remove all of the nail polish from both of my hands. Needless to say, I’ve become a Priti NYC fan. Have you tried this soy nail polish remover?
