Lip pencils are a nice way to apply lipstick easily. I should know, in a hurry I often apply my lipstick without a mirror. No worries I’ve been doing this for years. 🙂

I gave my NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red a try this weekend at a friends BBQ. And wearing red is never an easy color to wear and without a mirror it can go really wrong, really fast. Well with my handy NARS lip pencil it went oh so right!  If you haven’t tried one of these pencils they handle like a giant crayon and glide on smooth like lipstick.

These lips pencils are versatile and can be used as a lip liner or as overall color. The formula is richly pigmented with a velvety matte finish. The lip pencils are enriched with Vitamin E.  These pencils last a long time and I only needed to touch up my lips after dinner. I do recommend that you use a good nourishing lip balm prior to use to prevent your lips from drying out -it makes  big difference.

The other shade that I got was Paimpol a pale pink shimmery shade, that’s lovely for the daytime. You can also blend the shades easily for a custom color or wear under your lipstick for more staying power.

Overall I loved the lightweight feel of these lip pencils and the versatility. They’re fool-proof to apply and the colors are beautiful. This collection is available in 21 shades so if these two colors do not suit your liking there are plenty of other shades to choose from.
