I think I’m a bit over the whole nail art thing although it seems like the rest of the world isn’t quite ready to give it up yet. It’s like the time when I thought that cobalt blue hammer pants and a chunky white belt where just…beyond; I was like the black Madonna. Until I saw the pictures years later and was horrified by what I then thought was style. I foresee the same horrible ending with nail art. While we’d like to believe that faces of Lady Gaga or giant cupcakes on our nails is fetch, I can assure you they’re not. Today I got a manicure at a private (super secret) event and I went with some nail art. Yes, after everything that I now know, like a car wreck, I just could not turn away from it.
I opted for a fishnet Sally Hansen pattern on my ring finger, totally not over the top. And I paired it with a nice neutral tone, Essie Au Natural, an ultra sheer slightly milky beige. This beige is so sheer that I had to use three coats just to get enough coverage.
Overall I didn’t love the love. I thought that the fishnet pattern was clear but it was in fact metallic which didn’t really pair well with the beige. BUT I cannot complain because I desperately needed a manicure. Mission accomplished. So who’s winning now?
What are you wearing on your nails today?

Maybe it is just me, but I really like your nails and love muted nail art.

Thank you. I just don’t think that the muted tone compliments the metallic fishnet design.

Love Essie, it never chips! It’s replace OPI as my favourite although I like both.
