Who doesn’t love a glass of champagne or two especially with the holidays right around the corner? Champagne always reminds me of celebrations especially New Year’s Eve where everyone is so happy and the world seems so full of optimism. It’s also great for a mimosa at Sunday Brunch or on a romantic getaway. It’s associated with so many important celebratory occasions that it’s almost a little naughty to drink it on a regular basis. – that’s what Merlot is for.
Anyway I was a bit surprised to find out that champagne can be used as a skin care treatment. Who knew? Apparently champagne contains antioxidants and lightening tartaric acid which can help even out the skin tone. It’s also said to have antibacterial properties which may help reduce acne breakout. Here’s what an MD had to say:
After washing your face, soak up a cotton ball with the left-over champagne and wipe all over face, neck and décolleté. Be careful around the eyes…this is alcohol after all! Let the champagne fully absorb into skin, leaving it will help to close pores, making the skin tight, firm, and glowing! **Please note, people with very sensitive or dry skin, should do a patch test on a small non-visible area. ~Marina Peredo, MD, founder of Spatique Medical Spa in Smithtown, NY
I’m quite intrigued. I mean do I really need another reason to drink champagne? And now I have another excellent reason to keep some bubbly in stock. Am I the only one who didn’t know about this miracle cure? Who has tried this? I’m dying to know.
