A friend asked me this question after she betrayed me.
And it made me think, “Is this really true or is she trying to gaslight me?” Spoiler alert…she was trying to gaslight me.
Yes, I do believe that there are many reasons why events, tragedies, miracles, and the whole lot happen in life. But then, there are times when things just don’t make sense or add up, no matter how many ways you look at it. But lessons like these are truly teaching moments. You learn that you can know someone for a lifetime and never truly know them. You learn to trust your gut when people show you who they are. You even learn how some people will lie right to your face. But the biggest lesson of all was letting go.
Letting go means understanding that whatever you experienced is just a moment in time. And you don’t have to keep re-experiencing it by ruminating on the past. Letting go means bringing yourself to the present moment and focusing on what’s in front of you. It’s living in the present!
What has healed me is living in the present, bringing my awareness to all the blessings, people, and joyous moments I have in this now. So if you have ever been stuck in a space where it’s hard to move forward, try focusing on 3 things you have right now that you enjoy. It can be the cozy socks you’re wearing, the tasty latte you’re enjoying, or it can be anything that made you feel good that day. Be present in your life, even when things aren’t going right, because while you may not understand the things that are happening in your life, there are still sparks of joy that you can see through the darkness.
