To kick off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Social Media Week, Lucky Magazine hosted their FABB Conference, otherwise known as the Lucky Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference. As a beauty blogger I’m most appreciative of this event. I see conferences for mommy bloggers, wine bloggers, tech bloggers…but I’ve never seen a conference for beauty bloggers. So kudos to Lucky Magazine for not forgetting about us and even more-so for no lumping up together with fashion bloggers and appreciating our unique voices about everything beauty.
The conference started off with designer Diane von Furstenberg as keynote speaker. Diane is so down to earth and I know that is such as cliched phrase but it’s so true. She came from humble beginnings in Belgium, she had a clear vision of the woman that she wanted to be and she manifested an empire. She was the perfect speaker to start the day off with, she gave candid advice sprinkled with a little humor. Diane also shared her three rules for women:
1. The most important relationship you will ever have is the one you make with yourself.
2. All women should have children.
3. It is very important for women to have an identity outside of their career.
Amen Diane.
Panel like Brands & Bloggers working Together and Setting the Trends are always blogging conference favorites. Most of the advice given was to “be authentic” and to “find your own voice”. Now if they only have a panel on that advice…
We heard from industry professionals like Katia Beauchamp who is the Cofounder of Birchbox and Essie Weingarten, Founder, Essie Cosmetics. It was nice to see that beauty brands were represented, and I loved hearing from brands that i write about. I think that every beauty blogger has swatched an Essie nail polish a time or two!
Rebecca Minkoff, Rachel Roy and Coco Rocha on Building Your Brand
And of course the panel would not be complete with some well know bloggers like Phil Oh, Founder, Street Peeper.
And just when you thought that you’d seen the Kardashian sisters everywhere, well they were at Lucky FABB too. The ladies were polite, funny and answered a few questions while being filmed for their reality series. I’ll admit that I’m a Kardashian fan so I was incredibly excited to see that they were speaking at FABB.
The full day conference ended with closing remarks from Brandon Holley followed by a fun cocktail party. Lucky also honored bloggers with an awards ceremony presented by Zappos.com.
This is my second time at Lucky FABB and I’ll be there again in February. Aside from enjoying a carefully curated panel, Lucky provided bloggers with an opportunity to connect with one another in real life. I met a few people that I follow on Twitter and it’s refreshing to put a face to a name and blog.
Should you go to Lucky Fabb? If you’re a beauty or fashion blogger, abolutely.

Oh, I’ve always loved DVF but now I love her even more! I love when women say things I’m afraid to say like… I didn’t feel complete until I had children and you really haven’t lived until you’ve had children!
