We’ve all been there, seeing that dreaded little split end that will ultimately meet its demise at the hands of a scissor. The little meanies can literally cut short our hair growth and that’s not what we want!
When our hair gets dry it can become damaged and split. And we’re all guilt of doing one of the most drying things that you can do to your hair – sleep. It’s not the actual sleeping that that dries out our hair but rather the friction of our hair against our pillowcases; cotton pillowcases are among the worst because they’re super absorbent and take the oil right out of your hair. Cotton pillowcases also can cause hair to drag and break. Silk and Satin pillow cases don’t retain moisture so they’re ideal for keeping hair moisturized.
So I decided to give silk pillowcases a try to see if they would help me with my dry natural hair. For a week I’ve been using a LovaSilk silk pillowcase. The pillowcase is made of 100% Mulberry Silk and it’s absolutely gorgeous and beyond soft and smooth! Lovasilk shared that silk has many amino acids in common with your body, helping the skin stay healthy. Some of these benefits include healthy, shiny hair and smooth, soft skin. Who knew that a luxurious silk pillow could be so beneficial?! My skin and hair simply glided along the pillowcase which felt incredible especially after a long day. Overall I was impressed at how great my hair felt in the morning, it was much smoother and required less moisturizer. Do you use silk or satin pillowcases?

Thanks for the tip about the pillowcases! I had no idea silk was better for retaining moisture in the hair. I will be buying new pillow shams soon!
