The Psychology of Scent

June 28, 2010

Aromachology, The Psychology of Scent
Many women have signature fragrances that they they love and wear every day. Then there are some women who like certain perfumes but simply have not found the perfect scent that they cannot love without. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a signature scent that is uniquely your own? Who wouldn’t love a fragrance that speaks to who they are and a fragrance that nobody else has? Well Aromachology has come to the rescue to give you just what you were hoping for – a custom made perfume. Aromachology brings us The Psychology of Scent which is a quick 3 step process to creating the scent of your dreams. The consumer completes a 10 question ‘Scent Profile’ that places them into one of five personality groupings. The questionnaire then places the consumer into one of the personality profiles: Sophisticated & Sensual Floral, Totally Edible Gourmand, Exotic Spicy Oriental, Clean & Fresh and Bold & Brisk Woodsy.
The final step is choosing three out of 15 different notes to top off your creation. Your custom fragrance can be topped off with notes that are passionate, sexy, sensual, focused, open minded or creative.

“Rather than just playing on the art of perfume, we’ve managed to combine the art with the science to modernize and revive a market that has fallen flat. Consumers want to be the creators, and as they should, they are taking the reigns in developing something meant to embody who they are, and how they want to be perceived in this world.” ~co-founder, Ashlee Firsten

Some celebrities that have blended their own custom fragrances are The Jonas Brothers, Sherri Shepherd and Molly Sims. Aromachology can be found at the Perfume Bar in Henri Bendel in NYC or you can create your fragrance online: www.myaromachology.com

What a wonderful concept! Scent is such a personal thing, it makes a lot of sense to customize it.
