I have to admit I have never been a fan of body butter, thanks to the Body Shop. I don’t see the necessity of having a moisturizer plus a body butter in a collection. Either one or the other, and quite frankly, I am not a fan of thickness. But, thanks to my subscription to Ipsy this month, I’ve inadvertently added this into my growing collections of moisturizers and quite frankly, I am a convert!
Enter Pacifica Blood Orange Body Butter, this particular scent has been described (on the website) as “Blood Orange is offset with subtle Strawberry and Raspberry notes and grounded in fleshy Mandarin and Italian Sweet Orange”. I actually enjoy the scent because it is not too jarringly citrus y. Rather, it smells sweet, and the combination of strawberry and raspberry offsets the usually bitter smell of blood orange. I kept on smelling my hands once I applied this, and I cant help but be reminded of orange Fox candies ( and I mean that in a most positive way!).
The application of this product goes on smoothly and quickly, which I loved, considering the Body Shop butters were a pain in the ass for my skin to absorb. I did not need much either, just two squirts on each index finger was sufficient for both hands. The smell was not overwhelming that my mother would beg me to open the windows, rather, it is subtle unless one press their nose onto one’s hand.
So the verdict? Get it if you have extremely dry skin. And that rule applies to any body butter. Why? Because Body butter has a higher density of oils that is necessary for those who are prone to dry skin. However, be forewarned, with that much density, you are also prone to breakouts, so be wary! One more thing to note, if you are allergic to nuts, do not buy this product, it contains almond oil!
