Nail art is a trend that does not seem to be going anywhere. Here a a fashion week roundup of who wore which nail trend. Enjoy!
At Rodarte, Nail Artist Michele Huynh designed “Modern Medieval” manicures by weaving strips of custom blended and mattefied CND Colours in Desert Suede, Frosting Cream and Chocolate Milk over a base blend of high shine CND Colours in Desert Suede and Frosting Cream. Each nail tip required fifteen minutes to hand-detail – and the 30 total sets of nails for the show took 150+ hours to create!
For The Blonds “Psycho Beach Party” show, Kristina Estabrooks crafted an array of elaborately detailed nails including Shark Bites, skinny dip blue, and red caviar over CND Colour in Blackjack.
At Victoria by Victoria Beckham, Roxanne Valinoti created clean manicures in a classic nude, CND Colour in Putty. I think that I will always love a classic nail like this.
Candice Manacchio mimicked underwater bubbles on manicures using micro-beads and small pearls for a delicate and dimensional texture. To recreate at home, apply top coat and dip nail into beads (we recommend pouring beads into a flat bowl or dipping each nail directly into the tube). Toes were shimmering champagne with CND Colour in Putty topped with reflective CND Gold Pearl Effect.
At Angel Sanchez, Shelena Robinson created French manicures with contrasting shiny/matte finish. The lighter section of the nail was a custom blend of CND Colours in Blueberry Whip, Tutu, Cream Washed and CND Additives in Pink Shimmer, and the darker edge of the nail was created with CND Colours in Blueberry Whip, Tutu, Eclectic Purple, and Raspberry Plunge. This nail accentuated flushed pink cheeks and the color palette in the collection.
For Karen Walker‘s 80s Space Age-inspired collection, Angi Wingle designed “Milky Way Manicures” with two coats of CND Colour in Studio White finished with matte top coat. The manicure glowed from within and accessorized a luminous, translucent collection.
At Malandrino, CND’s Angi Wingle crafted a “Freshwater Pearl” manicure using a custom blend of CND Air Dry Top Coat, Additives in Titanium Pearl, and two drops of CND Colour in Blackjack. This subdued, opalescent gray nail dips into a feminine, softer metallic for Spring – a departure from Fall’s liquid shine, foil-like chromes.
For Binetti, Heather Reynosa-Davis designed oyster shell-inspired nails using assorted CND Colours in Tropic Coral, Flamingo Feather, Rouge Red and Blackjack. These triple-tier manicures revealed delicate pearls between each nail layer! Other manicure styles included lucite nails with accents of red and black for a see-through, sophisticated finish.
At Victoria Beckham, Roxanne Valinoti blended CND Colours in Putty and Desert Suede for a clean, professional nude on short, natural nails. The manicure, along with natural makeup and slicked back hair, were meant to direct attention to structured skirt suits, lingerie, fitted sheath dresses, and calf-length gladiator sandals.
At Christian Siriano‘s Degas ballerina-inspired fashion show. Nails by CND’s Angi Wingle glimmered with pink thanks to CND Grapefruit Sparkle, a shade from CND’s brand new polish line coming out in Spring 2013. Paired with top knots and luminescent cheekbones, this beauty look was truly en pointe.
At Rachel Antonoff, CND’s Candice Manacchio showed why girls just want to have hedge fun at the country club! Three different nail styles paid tribute to the show’s garden party theme: 1) The “Aerial Nail” portrayed a bird’s eye view of Versailles 2) The “Garden Nail” captured the maze-like quality of the winding hedges in the presentation and 3) Clear tips layered with white and tagged with blue & red Sharpies memorialized the friends and family dearest to the designer. Fun fact: it took the CND nail team over 65 hours to hand-detail 600 tips for this show!
At Monique Lhuillier, nails were inspired by reflective aquatic movement. CND’s Candice Manacchio created an illuminated, underwater manicure and pedicure using CND Lavender Pearl Effect mixed with a few drops of brand new CND polish in Lilac Longing (out in Spring 2013). With turquoise and gold eyeshadow, models looked marine marvelous!
At IMITATION by Tara Subkoff, CND’s Kristina Estabrooks fashioned a “Blown Glass” manicure with swirled and marbleized CND Copper Pearl Effect and CND Colour in Putty. Just as no marbleized nail is alike, the women of this show represented all ages and body types in a reflection on modern day society and female diversity.
At Nicole Miller, where sci-fi 80’s inspired prints were accessorized with Galaxy Glam nails created by CND‘s Candice Manacchio. The manicure was concocted with a custom blended mint green overlapped with sporadically sponged-on CND Sapphire Sparkle Effect, CND Colour in Studio White, and a pink shade from CND’s NEW polish line launching in late Spring 2013…get excited! Each nail was edged out with CND Colour in Blackjack for a modern twist. Pedicures in jet black CND Blackjack solidified why darks are tres chicfor toes too…even in the warmer seasons!
At Behnaz Sarafpour, CND‘s Shelena Robinson told a Fairy Nail with whimsical Fairy Dust manicures in a prismatic glitter fade of blended CND Additives in Spectrum Shimmer and Antique Bronze over clear CND Air Dry Top Coat. To get this look at home, apply fine glitter with an art brush from halfway up the nail to the tip while the top coat is still tacky. Seal with another layer of top coat to protect and preserve your dazzling design! This nail punctuated the beautiful nymph collection embroidered with delicate flora and fauna on feminine silhouettes.
For Jen Kao, CND‘s Shelena Robinson crafted earthy, muted beige nails inspired by bone with CND Gold Shimmer Effect layered with CND Colour in Pink Lily and finished with CND Super Matte Top Coat.
At the Monika Chiang show, lead manicurist Ana-Maria applied Lancôme Vernis in Love in Rouge in Love and painted a racing stripe down the center of the nail with Essie Nail Polish in No Place Like Chrome.
