I’ve tried the at home keratin treatments but I never tried one at a salon. I was invited to try a keratin treatment at Sanat Hair Salon in New York City and since it was early summer at the time I decided to go for it. Keratin treatments help eliminate frizz and who couldn’t use a little bit of that?
The hair shaft is coated with keratin protein leaving hair shinier and stronger. At first I was a little hesitant because I’m in the process of growing out my relaxed hair and wearing my natural hair texture. I spoke with the stylist and was informed that my hair would not permanently straightened! My other concern was about the controversial press that I’ve read about this treatment but the product used was Rejuvenol Same Day Treatment which is formaldehyde-free.
UK is the owner of Sanat Hair Salon and he is absolutely hilarious and his dog Troy is adorable. UK is very warm and loves to tell stories about his family back home in Turkey. Personally, I love hearing about other countries, cultural differences are so beautiful and fascinating. He also told me a lot about salon back in Turkey and how all salons serviced all types of hair not like here in the U.S. I think that’s the way it should be, shouldn’t a stylist be able to work on all types of hair?
The process was fairly simple but lengthy, so I put together a little video for you to take a look at how it all turned out [warning:music]:

Overall I adore how silky the treatment left my hair. On the day that I left the salon is was so humid out. You’re probably saying what day in NYC isn’t! But yes, as usual it was fairly warm and humid out and my hair didn’t frizz one bit! Proud moment. It’s been about six weeks now since I had the keratin treatment and my hair is still noticeably less frizzy. I love how it turned out but I’m looking forward to rockin’ my natural hair again.
Have you ever tried any keratin treatments?
