Humid Weather Curly Hair Help

Humid Weather Curly Hair Help

If you’re like me they you struggle with frizz while trying to maintain your perfect coils. While April showers bring May flowers, they also pack some serious frizz that can wreak havoc on your curls! Miko Branch, co-founder of Miss Jessie’s, offers tips for how to survive the humid weather with curls and peace of mind intact.

  • Your curls will need different stylers at different times of the year. During the rainier months, modify your beauty routine and use a styler with stronger hold than you might usually use. This will allow you to tame and control your humidified curls. Miss Jessie’s offers a wide range of stylers, from super light hold (Pillow Soft Curls) to super firm hold (Curly Pudding).
  • Don’t doubt what nature gave you! It is much better to embrace your natural curls than fight them and try to achieve brand new texture. Go with the flow and try a new look for a day or two.  For example, if you always have every curl in place, then during the rainy season, try a less stylized look. For kinkier, tighter curls, we recommend that you ultra-moisturize your hair as moisture is your best protection against humidity.
  • The damper part of Spring gives you the perfect opportunity to try braids, coil outs, or twist outs! Keep in mind that these styles require curl care as well. Before braiding, coiling, or twisting your curls, make sure that your curls are clean, and that you used a deep conditioner (like Miss Jessie’s Super Sweetback Treatment or Rapid Recovery Treatment). For demo videos on how to achieve these styles, visit Miss Jessie’s on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/MissJessies.

Le Baby Detangler is great for curly haired girls!

Le Baby Detangler

If you have curly hair a detangler can be your best friend, especially when you have supper tight curls. If I don’t cover my hair or use a silk pillowcase I wake up with a messy head full of tight frizzy curls everywhere. I came across Le Baby Detangler which is made for kids but us adults can indulge! This detangler is very gentle and does not contain any harsh chemicals, parabens or sulfates. It can be sprayed on wet or dry hair and the fragrance-free formula does not leave any scent behind.

Le Baby detangler did such a good job on my hair, gently allowing me to comb through my messy hair. I sprayed it on and gently finger style my curls until they were manageable. This formula doesn’t leave my hair sticky or dry, which I love. It can also be used on wet of dry hair, I prefer it on my dry hair because during the shower I use my regular conditioner as a detangler. It’s when my hair is dry that styling becomes more of a problem. My one complaint is the nozzle spray, it sprays one solid stream at a time instead of a dispersed mist. With having such a concentrated spray one area is left wet and the surrounding areas are left dry. This causes me to use a lot more product than I probably would have normally used. Overall it’s a great cruelty-free choice if you have hair that gets easily tangled and you’re looking for a gentle way to manage it.
