Exclusive Pantene Event at the Hotel Gansevoort in New York City

A few weeks ago myself and several other beauty bloggers were invited to a super-exclusive event at the Hotel Gansevoort in New York City to celebrate a new product launch by Pantene.

Panene Beauty Blogger Event

When we arrived at the event we had to sign a disclosure policy not to spill the beans about the new spokesperson for Pantene’s new Pro-V Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Collection. To our surprise the new face of representing the Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Collection in print ads is none other than the beautiful actress Sanaa Lathan. As you can image it was extremely hard not to tweet or twitpic this event! However we did get a chance to sit down with Sanaa up close and personal.

Getting Personal: Adventures in New York City!

November 23, 2011

New York City is an amazing place that I’m so proud to call my home. Like most New Yorkers we love our city simply because there is no place like it in the world! I can pass through the same neighborhood a hundred times and always see something new. New York is a lively city with a colorful cast of characters, unparalleled art, culture, fine dining and let’s not forget shopping. It’s just one of those places where you can see anything, do anything and enjoy anything at any  given hour of the day.

So when I’m walking around NYC, especially Manhattan, I love really being aware and in the moment. While I’m walking around I’m taking in the sights, sounds and all of the visual stimulation around me. After all you never know who you’re going to see or what you’re going to see, remember when I saw Tim Gunn?! Well while strolling though Midtown Manhattan yesterday I came across these two HUGE bears sitting on a bench.

So of course I had to take a picture with these bears. They were so cute!

However the bears weren’t too accomodating…but I just squeezed in any way. Once I sat down they couldn’t keep their paws off of me so I had to get out of there! LOL.

So I headed down the street to Lord & Taylor (one of my favorite stores) to check out their window displays. With the holiday season upon us you can always expect NYC department stores to step up their window displays. The displays are something that a lot of people look forward to, in fact it gets so crowded that most stores have to use velvet ropes! With all of the holiday cheer surrounding this time of year it always turns me into a BIG mush and I love to sing Christmas carols, bake cookies and of course visit “The Tree”. It’s always fun to grab a cup of cocoa and visit the various window displays throughout the city. Well Lord & Taylor was the first store that I saw so far and it didn’t disappoint with it’s beautifully animated perfect holiday scenes.

All of this happened within an hour, all I can say is that frolicking through New York City is never dull. But then again, life is what you make it. Right? Till next time!

Falling in love with Shiseido Fall 2011 Makeup

October 20, 2011

Shiseido Fall 2011 makeup collection

I was invited to a press preview for Shiseido Fall 2011 Collection at the Cooper Square Hotel in New York City. We were provided with iPods to listen to a guided audio and visual tour of new products. Each numbered station had an accompanying audio track on the iPod and even a video with Shiseido’s Artistic Director Dick Page. I swatched eyeshadows and heard exciting details about Future Solution LX Ultimate Regenerating Serum which counteracts all signs of aging. And who couldn’t use a little anti-aging serum?

Shiseido FUTURE SOLUTION LX Ultimate Regenerating Serum

For me the highlight of the collection was Shiseido’s shimmering cream eye color. I have a major weakness for cream eyeshadows because they are so easy to blend and you really don’t need any tools, except for your fingers! I can usually apply them pretty quickly so they’re great when I’m short on time and I want to wear a little makeup. Cream shadows are also usually richly pigmented so they can really add a little drama, the beauty kind of course. 😉

At the end of the preview we were given the option to choose three eyeshadows’ to take home. It was a touch choice because they were all so stunning but I went with Moss, Angel and Purple Dawn. I normally don’t wear blue but Angel but the teal tone just drew me in. The Moss color is a great everyday earth tone that I can wear to the office and Purple Dawn is just perfect for an evening out on the town.

I have completely fallen in love with this shimmering eye creams, the spread across the eyelid effortlessly and they last forever. I rarely use primer when I’m in a rush and these eye creams lasted all day without creasing. Have you tried Shiseido’s Shimmering Cream Eye Colors? If so which color?

Getting Personal: I saw Tim Gunn!

October 17, 2011

Tim Gunn New York City
Tim Gunn and some lady who is not me.

The great thing about New York City (besides everything) is that you never know who you will see. I was just at the Hotel Gansevoort last week while Kourtney Kardashian was there and now as I’m knocking tourists out-of-the-way en route to my favorite breakfast spot, who do I see? Tim Fucking Gunn.

I’m a huge fan of Tim Gunn because not only does he have great style but he’s so charismatic. He’s not the typical fashion asshole that makes a living off of making fun of people on TV. He actually offers practical advice in a kind-hearted way. In other words Tim Gunn is my fashion hero.

So I cross the street to obviously get a Twitpic of Tim and his team asked me to ask him a question. So here goes nothing. What am I going to ask Tim fucking Gunn? So I play the mommy card and ask him what does a stylish mom wear on the weekend besides jeans. And wait for it….Tim Gunn said that I had great style. Well not exactly in those words, he told me that he loved my cropped pea coat, my handbag and he said that I obviously wasn’t afraid of prints. I get it Tim, I can read between the lines, great style.

So yes folks, I’m going to be on TV. First the New York Times and now this. I have no idea when this will air and I have no idea which show this is for because in the frenzy of all of my Tim Gunn happiness I signed some waiver and didn’t bother to ask any information. Doh! So if you see me be sure to let me know I’m still on cloud nine.

Tim, call me!

Lady Foot Locker Event at Core Fusion: It’s a Lady Thing

October 16, 2011

I attended a fitness event hosted by Lady Foot Locker at the Gansevoort Hotel in New York City. Myself and several other bloggers enjoyed styling by Lady Foot Locker which included a sweet workout outfit and sneakers followed by an intense core fusion class and lunch at the Gansevoort Blue Room.

The day started off by changing into our new outfit provided by Lady Foot Locker. All of the bloggers loved the Actra Fitness tops, Nike sports bras and Adidas crops pants, they’re comfortable, cover all of my “trouble” spots and felt great. When I workout I have to be comfortable and these outfits were super-cute and ultra comfortable.

As a passionate member of Equinox and a firm believer in a fit lifestyle, I was not prepared for the workout that Core Fusion gave me. Core Fusion classes combines conditioning, Pilates, the Lotte Berk Method, interval cardio training, and yoga to give one kick butt workout. This was one of the most intense workouts that I’ve had in a long time and I was pushed to the limit..but I loved it. Honestly what’s the point of working out if you’re not going to sweat and if you’re not going to push yourself? I can’t wait to do it again!

After our intense workout session we were treated to a wonderful lunch at the Gansevoort Blue Room. Lot’s of yummy treats were passed around the room including sushi made on the spot but I nibbled on crudité since I’ve given up meat.

The Blue Room showcased some of the cutest sneakers that Lady Foot Locker sells. It became obvious that the Lady Foot Locker now is different from the Lady Foot Locker of years past, it’ now become a destination where active women can find comfortable yet stylish workout gear as well as cute casual weekend clothes.

Overall I had a fabulous day healthful day. I discovered a new fitness class, a new shopping destination and new blogger friends, thanks to everyone at Lady Foot Locker and Glam Media for organizing such an amazing event.
