I’ve been pretty concerned with some of the beauty products that I’ve been using after reading about some of the potentially toxic ingredients in many mainstream beauty brands. So now with EVERY beauty product that I use, I go the EWG’s (Environmental Working Group) Cosmetic Database to learn exactly what it is that I’m putting on my skin. I know that there is a lot of controversy going on about whether the small amount of toxic ingredients is harmful but if you consider the facts that your skin absorbs up to 60% of all topical products applied and that the average woman uses about twenty personal care items daily then you’ll soon realize that these “tiny amounts” of toxins can quickly add up.
I began searching for companies that created natural and organic beauty products. After all I am very careful about the foods that I eat so it would only make sense to make sure that the products that I use on my skin are safe as well. Although it’s not proven – I do believe that the increasing cancer rates are due to the foods that we eat and the products that we use. During my search I came across several brands that intrigued me and one was Kaia Naturals. Kaia Naturals created a cleansing cloth that is designed to cleanse, tone and remove makeup – naturally.
Each unbleached bamboo cloth contains:
• 8 pure essential oils (not synthetic fragrances)
• Citrus oils, spearmint and tangerine blend to help keep the skin fresh and balanced
• Sunflower oil to help lift impurities
• Certified Organic Honey for hydration
• Oat Amino Acids to deep cleanse
The most astonishing part of this product that stood out to me was that these cloths are made from bamboo and not trees. Bamboo is in fact the fastest growing plant on the planet growing up to 3 feet per day. Bamboo has a very short growth cycle and can be harvested in 3-5 years where as hardwood trees can take up to 15-20 years to be harvested; so these cleansing clothes are also an environmentally friendly option as well. Bamboo is naturally able to eliminate bacteria which make this material a perfect option for a cleansing cloth because you want to keep you skin as clean as possible.
Overall I loved these cleansing clothes because there is just so much good in them! These little guys are cruelty-free, 100% biodegradable and they contain ingredients that are beneficial to your skin. The true test was giving these little cloths a try with a face full of makeup and I am happy to say that it removed even my mascara with ease. The cloths have a very light citrus scent that dissipates within a few minutes but doesn’t leave behind any sticky residue like some cleansing cloths. You skin is left clean and refreshed! Have you tried Kaia Naturals Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths?
