I am a big fan of dying my hair, after all I’ve been doing it since the age of 14. When I entered my twenties I decided to darken my dark brown hair and I dye it black. I love a rich black shade on my complexion so it’s stuck with me ever since. Sometimes when I get my hair trimmed I get my hair colored as well because it can be quite messy to do it at home. However with a busy schedule I don’t always make it to the salon and I need a quick fix to extend my hair color between salon visits.
Normally I’d grab my normal hair color off the shelf but there’s more product that I need and it can get a little messy. So this time I decided to try a product specifically designed for touch-ups in between hair appointments. And that great product is Clairol Root Touch-up.
The application is fairly simple. After styling your hair the way that you normally would (so that you know where to apply the color), wait ten minutes and rinse. The formula when mixed produces a gel-like consistency that make it practically spill proof – which is a win for me because I am so messy when it comes to these things. The package only gives you enough to just cover your roots so there was no temptation to apply product to my already dyed hair.
Some of the other useful hair tips that have helped me to prevent my color from fading and helped me to extend my hair color:
- Wait 24 to 48 hours after your last shampoo, the natural scalp oils help color adhere better to the hair shaft.
- Use a shampoo and conditioner made specifically for color treated hair.
- Protect your hair from the sun (Which fades color) and heat styling.
