Fall Nail Trends 2013

August 22, 2013

As seasons go, I’ve always been a fan of fall.  There’s just something magical about the changing leaves, crisp air and snuggling into comfy clothes. One of my favorite things about fall is breaking away from the bright nail colors of summer and slipping into sophisticated autumn shades.

Neutral

A classic nude is hard to beat.  Fall is the ideal time for warm, mauve toned nudes.  Essie’s “Don’t Sweater It” is a dark, rich nude.  It’s a great choice for those days when you just can’t decide on a color.

Purple

A deep plum polish is both classy and daring.  I am absolutely in love with “Purple Revolution” from Dior Vernis.  I am complimented on my nails every time I wear it!

Navy

This collection of fabulous shades wouldn’t be complete without a textured polish.  OPI’s “Wharf, Wharf, Wharf” is a brilliant navy blue featuring a funky sandy texture.  It just screams for a midnight rendezvous on the dance floor.

Blood Red

Halloween is easily my favorite holiday, and nothing is more spooky and mysterious than blood red nails.  “Jezebel” from Marc Beauty Enamored High-Shine Nail Lacquer collection seems both sexy and dangerous.  Elvira would be proud.

Chocolate Brown

Brown is a color I have always associated with autumn.  It’s the color of dead leaves, freshly turned soil and pinecones.  “Chocolate Junkie” from the Sephora Collection reminds me of a steaming mug of delicious hot chocolate.  All that’s missing is marshmallows!

Burnt Orange

Speaking of colors associated with fall.  It’s hard to think of fall without envisioning pumpkins. If you’re looking to rock some dazzling burnt orange nails, check out Butter London’s “Brown Sugar”. Gorgeous copper shimmer with gold glitter; if only every pumpkin was this fabulous!

If you’re one for staying on top of the trends, keep an eye out this autumn for these captivating nail colors.  Let me know what your favorite fall shades are in the comments section!

Fall Trend: Nail Art Craze

November 2, 2012

Aztec Nail Art from Free The People

A considerably popular trend in America, I have yet to encounter some cool nail art amongst my fellow Canadians. However, I am thoroughly fascinated with this trend because I think it is awesome to use your nails as another form of expressing individuality.

I have perused through many photos of nail art, from the sublime (yes, I have seen works of art on nails) to the downright crazy (Will and Kate photos on nails), and I am now tempted to find a decent design to embellish my usually neutral colored nails.  The process is pretty easy when it comes to application of nail art. It involves polish, mani/pedi and decorations. The labor is far more intricate when it comes to precise placement of each decorative piece.

Oo lala Ciate.

Yes, it is to say that cleanliness is godliness, and when it comes to nails, it speaks a lot about who you are. At the same token, I think it is nice to funkify your look, go wild without being so blatantly obvious, and for a far lesser price. Check out this gallery here of Olympic nail art to get you inspired!
