Fall Trend: Nail Art Craze

November 2, 2012

Aztec Nail Art from Free The People

A considerably popular trend in America, I have yet to encounter some cool nail art amongst my fellow Canadians. However, I am thoroughly fascinated with this trend because I think it is awesome to use your nails as another form of expressing individuality.

I have perused through many photos of nail art, from the sublime (yes, I have seen works of art on nails) to the downright crazy (Will and Kate photos on nails), and I am now tempted to find a decent design to embellish my usually neutral colored nails.  The process is pretty easy when it comes to application of nail art. It involves polish, mani/pedi and decorations. The labor is far more intricate when it comes to precise placement of each decorative piece.

Oo lala Ciate.

Yes, it is to say that cleanliness is godliness, and when it comes to nails, it speaks a lot about who you are. At the same token, I think it is nice to funkify your look, go wild without being so blatantly obvious, and for a far lesser price. Check out this gallery here of Olympic nail art to get you inspired!

Fall Beauty Trends

October 25, 2012

Anna Sui: She sure knows how to seduce!

Fall is here! It’s that time of year where we start to bring out our beloved trench coats and scarves, light mitts and knee high boots while secretly dreading that in six weeks time, winter will slowly creep itself in full bloom. I’ve noticed that fall time is when every woman starts to dress like a chic British lady (think Kate Middleton).

In terms of beauty, here is the breakdown on what is cool for fall, sourced by Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week:

  • Clear skin is always in. Think au natural, minimalist make up with a hint of blush to enhance those lovely cheekbones.
  • Red lips are timeless. Minimalist makeup plus red lips equals sexy for Fall (or for any season to be honest)
  • Dramatic lashes accompany the minimal look.
  • For those of you who like to go bold: blue/peacock eye shadow mixed with some brown is the way to go. Think Anna Sui and Prabal Gurung.
  • Look out for an influx of women wearing headbands. Yes, they are back and ready to pull your hair back!

So, ladies, keep it simple. Keep it clean and from time to time, go bold if you feel like it.

Fashion Week Beauty: Makeup at L.A.M.B. FW 2011

February 21, 2011

In a previous post we shared 5 top beauty trends that we are seeing on the runways. Among the beauty trends that we spotted were winged eyeliner, pale skin, alabaster skin and tones of gun-metal and black. Even though L.A.M.B showed us six different looks at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week we spotted some of these trends again and again.

Here we see the pale skin combined with the winged eyeliner trend. I love the cat eye trend, it’s incredibly sexy!

 L.A.M.B. NYFW 2011 Fall Winter

Pale skin and a nude lip can be seen in many of the looks. Mod makeup makes a huge comeback this fall so get ready for a flash back to the 70s.
