Kirsten Dunst makeup look at the Met Gala 2012

Kirsten Dunst rocked the Met Gala, with a warm complexion and light, shimmering makeup.  Celebrity makeup artist Dawn DeSantis gives us the beauty breakdown on how to get Kirstens look at home using Too Faced makeup!

Apricot/Peach-Colored Cheeks: “Apply to color apples of cheeks for a sunny glow to add a pop of color to the face—any powder blushes or cream blushes are great for this and easy to apply with fingertips.”

Product to use:

Too Faced Full Bloom Lip & Cheek Crème Color ($21) – pigment-rich, creamy blush blends effortlessly onto cheeks and lips flushing them with luminous color.

Shimmering Eyes: “Apply a wash of golden-toned warm shadow lightly to lids only and blend to make more subtle. Layer with a cooler shimmery shadow applied only in the inner corners of eyes to brighten up the eyes in a more dramatic way. Use any pale light pastel color, such as pale purple, white or even silver!”

Product to use:

Too Faced Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment ($17) – A new generation of glitter emerges within this loose and luxurious pigment powder that merges all the glamour of glitter with an ethereal feminine and fabulous effect. Sophisticated shades enhance existing eye shadows or look lovely when worn alone.

Summery, Natural Lips: “Go for a peach/apricot or nude colored lip to finish off the look. Choose a creamy lip color with a hint of glisten to create a brighter pout.”

Product to use:

Too Faced Glamour Gloss in Barely Legal ($19) – A luxurious, long-wearing lip gloss that comes in fourteen richly-pigmented shades with a touch of shimmer. This exclusive formula is enriched with Too Faced’s Lip Injection Comfort Plump for subtle plumping and cooling effects. Natural rice lipids lock in moisture while Jojoba and Avocado oils hydrate and smooth lips for a youthful appearance.

Get The Look: Mary-Kate Olsen At The Met Gala

Mary-Kate Olsen beauty breakdown at the Met Gala 2012

Last night was one of the most beautiful and fashionable nights of the year, the annual Costume Institute Gala at The Met in New York City aka The Met Gala. While everyone was watching to see which celebrity was wearing which designer I was wondering what lipsticks the ladies were wearing! Because just like fashion, makeup plays an important part of every stylish womans’ overall look. And style icon Mary-Kate Olsen did not disappoint, she was on the scene and Hourglass makeup artist Molly R. Stern gave her a modern and dramatic makeup look for the evening.

It’s very modern and matte. The secret to pulling it off is imbuing the cheeks with a spot of color. ~Molly R. Stern

Want to achieve Mary-Kate’s Met Gala modern makeup look at the Met Gala? Here is the beauty breakdown of how you can get the look yourself:

Skin: Molly first hydrated the skin with Natura Bisse C+C Vitamin Cream and primed with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer to ensure the longevity of her makeup. She followed with Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup in Ivory for light, sheer coverage and created a matte finish with Oxygen Mineral Powder #2.

Cheeks: To create contour and warmth in the cheeks, Molly first applied the bronze shade of Hourglass Illume Crème-To-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to the base of the cheek bone. She then used Hourglass Aura Sheer Cheek Stain in Petal on the apples of the cheeks and blended the two products. “With a look as neutral as this you need to give the cheeks some life,” she says.

Eyes: Molly combined the two shades of Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy with the taupe shade from Hourglass Vol. 6 Eye Shadow Palette to add depth and shadow to the eye crease and top and bottom lash line. For more intensity, she lined the inside of the upper lash line with Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner in Cognac, a chocolate shade. For an understated lash look, Molly applied  Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer to the bottom lashes only, leaving the top ones bare. “I wanted to subtly tint the lower lashes,” she says, explaining why she used the lash topcoat.

Lips: To create a berry stain, Molly pressed Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Nocturnal, a plum wine shade, into the center of her top and bottom lip. “The goal was to make it look like she had been eating berries,” says Molly. She added, “Mary-Kate is an amazing collaborator who likes to push the boundaries.”
