You know how mystifying Asian women can be when it comes to their flawlessly, ageless skin? Count me lucky as a Chinese Canadian who is constantly mistaken for a 16 year old, when in reality, I am in my mid-20’s. Part of it is luck but I have to say, diet plays an important role for our culture, and it has made a huge contribution in how our skin has managed to evolve and withstand time. Aside from the low fat diet that we manage t uphold with our home dinners, seaweed consumption is pretty much prevalent to our daily meals.
Seaweed comes in many different types (Green, brown, red) and varieties (Wakame, Nori, Kombu, Dulse). All of these are high in minerals, vitamins and amino acids that are essential for overall vitality as well as skin care. It is rich in anti-oxidants (known to reverse signs of aging) and contains fatty acids to combat skin inflammation.
Seaweed is now present in a lot of skin care products but since they are tasty anyways, why not add it into your daily diet!
