Is it possible to get rid of stretch marks?

Did you know that 80% of women have stretch marks? This is a problem that plagues me like so many other women all over the world. I’ve read so much contradictory information about stretch marks that I wanted to speak with a skincare expert to get their take on them. I was approached by reps for Taut® Premium Collagen,$110, (a nutricosmetic product that treats skin from the inside out) and was intrigued by this product. Many stretch mark products are topical but this is one that you drink before you go to bed. I reached out to the founder Larry Pederson and he agreed to answer a few of my question on how women can deal with stretch marks and how Taut can help them.

1. Is it possible to heal stretch marks without cosmetic surgery?

It is definitely possible to diminish the looks of stretch marks without cosmetic surgery. There are some topical creams people claim work, as well as our product, Taut Premium Collagen, that treats stretch marks by replenishing the lost collagen.

2.  I’ve read that stretch marks can be caused by a vitamin deficiency, is there any truth to that?

Stretch marks are small scars caused when our skin expands rapidly e.g. when pregnant. They are caused when ‘fibroblasts’ in the dermis layer of the skin fail to form new collagen and elastin fibers to keep our rapidly growing skin taut.  So stretch marks essentially come from insufficient amounts of collagen and elastin.

3.  What is the best course of treatment for older stretch marks?

If you do not want to get cosmetic surgery, then I would suggest that a good treatment for older stretch marks is to treat the ultimate source of the problem, which is the loss of collagen. Our product, Taut Premium Collagen, has helped diminish stretch marks in women with stretch marks several years old.

4.  How does your product reduce the appearance of stretch marks?

The hydrolyzed collagen in Taut Premium Collagen Replenishment Formula  repairs scarring by stimulating the fibroblasts to generate new collagen in the scarred areas – in much the same way that it replenishes depleted collagen in the dermis layer that causes fine lines and wrinkles.

5. Have you conducted any clinical trials to see how effective this product is?

Hydrolyzed collagen has been studied extensively for years by numerous research universities in Japan, with impressive results on its skin rejuvenation properties.  Our company is in the process of conducting an 8 week long clinical trial of Taut Premium Collagen in Florida for the same application.  Regarding stretch marks, we have had many women try the product and their testimonials have been overwhelmingly positive as to Taut’s amazing benefits. Many customers who are moms tell us that in addition to the skin tightening effects they have noticed on their face and all over their body, they have noticed their stretch marks diminishing after just a few weeks of using the product.

6.  What are a few ways that women can prevent future stretch marks?

There are a few ways that you can avoid getting stretch marks, pregnant or not.  We recommend eating a skin-nourishing diet that includes foods that are rich in antioxidants, which help nourish and protect skin, along with always drinking plenty of water.  Water helps detoxify your body, which makes your skin healthier and more likely to bounce back from any type of stretching. Lastly I would suggest working out, pregnant or not. Exercising helps the skin retain its elasticity by improving your body’s circulation. Exercise also of course helps you to not gain any excess weight, which can lead to more stretch marks.

I have not tried Taut, yet. But I do plan to. I’ve tried several topical treatments like Bio-oil that helped a bit but did not entirely diminish my pregnancy stretch marks. I do not want to try any kind of cosmetic surgery at this point so I’m trying other methods like working out, eating right and using over the counter cosmetic treatments to lessen the appearance of my stretch marks. I’ll keep you posted on my progress!

What, if anything, have you tried to treat your stretch marks?
